After taking a year off due to Covid, The DSG annual Holiday Party was held on Sunday, Dec 4th
at the Meritage restaurant in Glendale. The new venue provided a bigger room for our 30+ members
and guests. The evening began with socializing during the cocktail hour. Stan provide a photo
portfolio of 2021 DSG and other Porsche events to be viewed on a big screen TV. Very Cool!
Following dinner, Peter presented our two prestigious DSG yearly trophy awards.
The “Car of the Year” trophy this year went to Tony Humbert for his lifelong pursuit
to restore a 1965C to a beautiful black finish after decades of work. Tony’s 356 story is
told in detail by his daughter Abbie, and can be read on the DSG website, look under
the Past Events Tab.
The Tom Oerther “Spirit Award” was presented to Dick Weiss for his unwavering
spirit by participating in almost every DSG and Porsche club event during 2021.
One highlight is his class victory in the Bellefontaine Hill Climb revival, which he
participated in decades ago with his same Speedster. He was also honored by the
Ohio Valley PCA club at their 60th Anniversary Party in September as one of the
founding members of the club. As as most of you know, Dick drives his Speedster
to every event.
Once gain, the club was blessed with numerous donations from our club’s business sponsors.
For a list of our party donors, visit the “Advertiser and Holiday Party” vendor links at the
drop down menu at the top of the homepage. The two top prizes of a complete car detailing
package provided by Porsche of the Village were won by Brent Fagan and Mark Schlachter.
And finally, DGS members gave back to kids who are less fortunate by donating new gifts
for the Toys for Tots campaign. Peter will drop all the new toys off very soon.
Since Peter is always planning the next DSG event, he has reserved the Meritage again for Sunday
December 4th, 2022. Save the date.
