The weather was gorgeous for the DSG 47th annual Bull Session and Family Picnic.
The club returned to their usual private location on Sunday, May 21st in beautiful Sharon Woods Park
in Sharonville, Ohio on the north side of Cincinnati.
Bull Sessions take on many meanings for Porsche folks. Today you may call them Cars and Coffee.
But the 356 tradition goes back decades where 356 owners would celebrate their 356 ownership in an all day affair.
Most included good food and drink, and a chance to spend time with fellow owners and family members
to find out what is happening in everyone’s lives, travel plans, grandkids updates etc. It’s not only about the cars.
We’ve expanded our event to include a People’s Choice
car vote, and an early Porsche Trivia Quiz for a chance at some great take home booty.
This is the 47th year for the DSG group, only missing one year due to COVID!
A big shout out to Peter Boettcher, current DSG President and his staff
of helpers, to put on this great annual event.
The arrivals lined up their vintage Porsches by type, air cooled 356, air cooled
post 356, and few water cooled examples. Long time 59’ Cab owner Kendall Krieg
drove down 75 miles from Urbana, Ohio with his wife Rebecca to join our celebration
for the first time. We were joined by a few members of our local Ohio Valley PCA Porsche club.
It was great to have them join our annual Porsche party.
A grilled picnic lunch was served up by the DSG members for all to enjoy.
After a leisurely lunch, everyone was encouraged to walk out to the Porsches
and cast a vote for the top five cars.
Top five Porsche voting concluded with the winners snagging a Porsche factory trophy,
and some nice door prizes from our local Porsche businesses. Winners were Steve Leiding,
Dick Weiss, Kendall Krieg, Russell Clark, and John Meyer.
Past president Carl Isemann once again provided a mind wrenching
10 question Porsche Trivia quiz. Sad to say no one got all 10 correct answers.
But there were plenty of goodies on the prize table for the highest ranking
correct answers down to the lowest number. Everyone participating went
home with a memento.
Special recognition awards hand made by Steve Leiding, were given to
two of the longest standing members of our club, Dick Weiss, and Tom Oerther.
Dick is a proud owner of a Carrera Speedster, which has been documented
in several magazine write-ups. And Tom is a Registry Hall of Fame recipient from the 2003 class.
We will be back again next year at the same great location. Watch for
updates on our website; www.dreistaatengruppe.com
